For Las Vegas homeowners

A field guide to window repair in Las Vegas.

Fog between the panes, a crack, a sash that will not stay put, or water at the sill. This site explains what those problems usually mean and what a repair company is typically asked to do.

What you can do on this site today

Name the problem

Separate a failed seal from dirt on the glass, and see what a crack, a draft, or water at the sill usually points to.

See the kinds of work

Glass, insulated units, hardware, screens, and frames. This is a map of the work, not a price list and not an offer.

Read what referral would mean

An independent referral step is planned for Las Vegas. It is not running, and no repair company is attached to it.

Write this down for yourself

A repair company will ask for a few facts. Keep them in your own notes. There is nowhere on this site to submit them.

  • Which room, and whether the window slides, hangs, cranks, or is fixed glass.
  • One pane or two, and whether any haze is between the panes.
  • Rough width and height of the glass, not of the whole wall.
  • Vinyl, aluminum, or wood, and whether the lock still meets its keeper.
  • Where water shows up first: in the track, under the sill, or from above the window.

Heat, cold nights, and sudden rain

Las Vegas summers put real heat on glass and on metal or vinyl frames. Nights cool off. That swing is hard on the seal between two panes. A summer rain can also be the first time water shows up at a sill that looked fine in dry weather. Those are reasons to look closely. They are not a diagnosis of your window.
